Mixed #LaborMarkets Jobs Report, but #Goldilocks Soft Landing still in play…
😬 Weak early data. Early #LaborMarkets data soured the mood midweek. Job openings fell sharply in November while ADP private payrolls also missed the mark.
😅 Mixed jobs report. Nonfarm payrolls missed expectations for December similar to the ADP report. We also saw sizable downward revisions to October and November’s previously reported job gains. However, unemployment was a positive surprise－the jobless rate fell two ticks in December with November also revised slightly lower.
️📈 Markets march forward. The mixed #LaborMarkets jobs report and slightly better #ConsumerConfidence sentiment data helped markets regain the new year’s momentum. The S&P 500 finished the first full week of 2026 up 1.6%.
