Markets tumble on War, Oil and Jobs
💣 War. Over the weekend, the US and Israel launched a broad military assault on Iran killing its Supreme Leader. Iran has been retaliating with attacks on US allies in the Middle East. While US officials insist it’ll be short, markets getting more pessimistic for extended #GlobalTension.
🛢️ Oil. One of the biggest casualties of the US-Iran war so far has been oil pricing. Crude oil prices surged 36% this week as markets priced in a longer and more disruptive conflict. For mainstreet, US consumer likely to see it at the gas pumps as well as potentially reigniting #Inflation.
️💼 Jobs. The February jobs report was bad with nonfarm payrolls declining -92K and unemployment rising again to 4.4%. After that strong January report, #LaborMarkets appear not so stable with a massive miss in February. The S&P 500 ends down -2% for the week.
