Markets plunge as White House reignites #Tariffs trade war…
🏛️ Shutdown standoff. The US shutdown extended into its second week with some prediction markets forecasting it remaining into November. Government-funded macro data like the jobs report and weekly jobless claims continue to be halted during this period.
💼 Tariffs return. The White House reignited the #Tariffs trade war with China citing frustration over stricter rare earth export rules. An additional 100% #Tariffs is the threat which would essentially bring back the trade embargo on China we saw earlier this year.
📉 Market plunge. Markets tumbled on the #Tariffs news Friday and sharply reversed an otherwise modestly green week. The S&P 500 ends down -2.4% for the week.
